IDEA
Invention Gear is
dedicated to informing inventors, to help them navigate through the
often frustrating challenges associated with inventing, prototyping,
patenting, marketing and licensing their invention.
Invention Idea Evaluation
Once your invention idea
has been conceived, rather than seeking a patent, the first step that
an inventor should do is evaluate their invention idea.
An invention idea may have
already been invented by another inventor, so evaluation is a crucial
step in the process of inventing.
There are several elements
to evaluating an invention idea, and the goal should be to answer the
following questions:
-
Does my invention idea
work?
-
Is my invention idea
novel, that is, has my invention idea been invented by a different
inventor in the past?
-
Will my invention idea be
appealing to consumers in this invention category?
-
Is my invention idea
superior to existing inventions on the market?
Researching Your Invention Idea
To evaluate your invention
idea, there are numerous places that you can turn to.
Initially, a thorough
online search using Google.com and other search engines will help you
ascertain if your invention idea is novel.
Additionally, it is
important to begin asking potential consumers on whether or not your
invention idea is appealing.
Remember that when you do
this, if it is before you are patent pending with your invention idea,
to always have these people sign a nondisclosure agreement prior to
disclosing your invention idea.
